From November 11, 2019 to November 8, 2020, Dr. Fu Qingsong, as a visiting scholar, conducted a one-year scientific research work in the American Research Center of School of Humanities, University of Texas at Austin. Under the guidance of Professor Randolph Lewis, the director of the center, Dr. Fu mainly engaged in the comparative study of urban space production path between Nanjing and Austin. Around the current situation and trend of urban space expansion, process characteristics and urban space monitoring of Austin, Dr. Fu had academic exchanges with Pro. Lewis, Hoelscher (Dean of the school of humanities), Adams (director of the urban research center of the school of geography and environment of the University), Dr. Beasley and Tretter (a visiting scholar from the University of Calgary, Canada). He also participated in the "why cities matter" webinar hosted by Professor Lewis. Through this visit, Dr. Fu broadened his theoretical horizon and expanded academic resources.
