On the morning of October 13th, The Marxism School of Shanghai Normal University sponsored the “Thematic Forum on the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China and the Basic Knowledge of Party Building” which was held at the Shanghai Normal University.
During the forum, Director Dong Defu delivered a significant report entitled “Perspectives and Methods for Summarizing 70 Years of Construction Knowledge in New China”, which reported that there are five basic perspectives in summing up the 70 year construction knowledge of new China: complementary special history and comprehensive history, combination of short period and long period, integration of nationality and the world, benign interaction between theory and practice and interactive summary of experiences and mistakes. The fundamental way to summarize the knowledge is to combine the basic principles of Marxism with China’s specific conditions and the specific methods which include adhering to the ideological line of seeking truth from facts, the dialectical mode of thinking, the historical analysis method, the global vision, and the future-oriented method etc.
This forum was divided into two stages: significant report and group speech, of which nearly 100 experts, scholars and graduate students from universities and social sciences all over the country participated in the forum. Eventually, through exchanges; friendship has been enhanced, vision has been broadened, the academic frontier and the research trends of the Party’s construction have been understood all of which are conducive to expanding the influence of the Marxist theory discipline in our school.
