During May 2024, Dr. Christian Ploberger, lecturer at CBIS, Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-OK, Bangkok, Thailand was invited as a Visiting Lecturer to the School of Marxism (Common Prosperity Institute), Jiangsu University. During his stay, he delivered 5 lectures, hosted by Professor Zhang Huiqing, on global governance as part of the ‘Module on Contemporary Western Political Thought’.
He gave a seminar on the topic of ‘Comprehensive Regionalism’, discussing the various underlying aspects of different regional cooperation dynamics and the changing perception of what constitutes regional space. As part of the seminar, his new book project, focusing on ‘River Basins and International Relations’ (Routledge 2023), has been discussed as well. The core point of the book is that an international river basin offers a particular geographic and structural context for supporting sub-regional integration dynamics.
The School of Marxism (Common Prosperity Institute) also organized a half-day workshop on 30 May, focusing on ‘Common Prosperity: the challenge of generating equality in development’. Professor Zhang Huiqing and Dr. Ploberger presented some related work. Associate Professor Song Tao, from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was also invited to participate in the workshop to present some ideas of his work on the topic. This workshop links back to an international online conference, in cooperation with CBIS, Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-OK, Bangkok and Woxsen University, Hyderabad in December 2023 and is forward connected to a forthcoming book on the same topic, to be published in early 2025.
