Xing Weihong, president of JSU, and Zou Xiaobo, vice president of the university, and other personnel concerned came to the School of Marxism to conduct research on the discipline construction and the school development,on the morning of August 15.

Li Li, dean of the School of Marxism, outlined the development of the school in recent years, focusing on the discipline construction, teaching staffconstruction, academic research, landmark achievements and development ideas of the school, and emphatically analyzed the situation faced by the discipline construction of Marxist theory and the short-term work plan.

Zou Xiaobo stressed that the School of Marxismundertook the teaching and research work of ideological and political courses of JSU, and it was necessary to continue to strengthen the construction of teachers’ morality and set an example in the university.

Xing Weihong delivered concluding remarks. She highly affirmed the achievements made by the school and put forward clear requirements on how to strengthen the construction of the school and enhance the competitiveness of disciplines. Xing pointed out that the discipline construction of Marxist theory should be political, practical and cross-cutting, and it should be closely combined with the practice of Party building and talent cultivation. Additionally, she suggested that it was necessary to find its own position, fully know the development of other schools of Marxism nationwide, and better coordinate the resources of various departments in the university; it wasessential to shore up the weak links, find the crux of the problems, and rectify the situation; and it was important to highlight the characteristic advantages and realize the characteristic innovation and development ofdifferentiation.
